BANDUNG, polban.ac.id — In a significant move to elevate vocational education standards, Politeknik Negeri Bandung (Polban) officially inaugurated the Gree Training Center on September 23, 2025. Established as an industry-standard practical laboratory, this new facility marks a milestone in aligning academic curriculum with the fast-evolving demands of the global refrigeration and air conditioning sector.
The newly launched center is set to directly benefit students within the Department of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering (Teknik Refrigerasi dan Tata Udara). Through this strategic partnership with Gree, a world-renowned leader in air conditioning technology, the campus has integrated cutting-edge cooling infrastructure to provide students with unparalleled hands-on experience.
Advanced Infrastructure from Residential to Industrial Scales
Prior to the establishment of the center, theoretical concepts often faced the hurdle of technological lag in traditional lab environments. The Gree Training Center addresses this gap by supplying an extensive range of modern refrigeration hardware. Students will now have direct access to state-of-the-art equipment, ranging from advanced residential air conditioning units to complex, large-scale commercial and industrial climate control systems.
This comprehensive exposure ensures that students do not just learn the mechanics of household appliances, but also master the sophisticated configurations used in modern skyscrapers, factories, and cold supply chain networks.
Cultivating Future-Ready HVAC Experts
The synergy between Polban and Gree goes far beyond a simple equipment donation. This facility represents a collaborative ecosystem designed to co-create knowledge and upskill the next generation of engineers. By training inside a laboratory that mirrors real-world workplace environments, students can seamlessly transition from academic learners to field-ready professionals.
As the demand for energy-efficient cooling solutions and green HVAC technologies continues to surge globally, the expertise cultivated within this center is highly timely. Graduates will emerge not only with technical proficiency but also with a deep understanding of industry best practices, making them highly competitive assets in both local and international job markets.
A Model for Academia-Industry Synergy
The grand opening ceremony was attended by campus executives, industry representatives, and student leaders, all echoing a shared optimism for the future. This initiative highlights Polban’s commitment to progressive vocational education, serving as an exemplary model of how universities and corporate pioneers can collaborate to solve the industrial talent shortage.
With the Gree Training Center fully operational, Politeknik Negeri Bandung reinforces its position as a premier institution dedicated to producing skilled, future-ready technical experts who are prepared to drive the refrigeration and cooling industry forward. (as)
